Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged,
for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

"Look at all my stars"

Luke was talking about being scared and he hoped this medicine was working. We said we hoped so too! We talked about how God is with us when we are scared and how so many people are praying for him. He said I know, (with a smile on his face) look at all my stars. (A friend made up posters with stars on them that represent prayers and he loves it!!) I am amazed by his faith and courage. Our friends son Luke, who will soon be 7 years old, was just recently diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. I was talking with Luke's Aunt the other day and she told me a story about how someone asked him what he wanted. He replied with two answers. He said that he wanted "100....no 500 prayers." Then he said that "before he left the hospital he wanted a needle so that he could give every doctor a shot." Well, I don't think there's much we can do about the shots, but we can give him 500 prayers.

So here is the idea I have. If you already have been, or you will commit to praying for Luke and would like to be a part of his 500 prayers just leave a comment with your name, the state you live in and your prayer for Luke.

I am doing both of the following with all the comments:
1. Put your name on a blue star (Luke's favorite color is blue) and taking them to Luke's hospital room and hanging them on the wall so that Luke will have a visual reminder each day that he has his 500 prayers.
2. I am making a booklet for Luke with all of the names and prayers and bringing it to him to have in his room as a tangible reminder of his 500 prayers.

I am bringing Luke the stars and prayers each week as they come in. I know he is encouraged by them as it helps for him to know how many people are praying.

Thank you for all your prayers!

Dear Luke,

I received your request for 500 prayers, Mrs Turner sent it to me. I want you to know that I am praying for you and your Mom and Dad, and all your doctors too. I am praying that you will stay strong and patient with your doctors and nurses as they treat you,

I am praying that your Mom and Dad will rest when you do and take each minute as it is given to them and to stay positive and strong in Gods love.

Remember Gods arms are wrapped around all of you, so hold on tight when you dont feel well and run around like crazy when you do.

Love and peace to all of you

Thank you so very much for Luke and for the joy he brings to so many people around him. Thank you for his wonderful loving mom and dad and for his sweet and loving brother and sister. And thank you for all the many, many family and friends around Luke who love him and care about him and for all of their amazingly wonderful prayers.
We love you God and we are so grateful that you are almighty and all knowing and that you never leave us or forsake us. Thank you that you love our children even more than we do and that you want what's best for them even when we don't always understand what your plan is. We have been praying for you and your family every day. We're glad you have so many people who love you and are praying for you. We're also glad that this web site is here for us to look at because when we're sad about what you and your family are going through, we look at your photos and read the prayers and scriptures and remember how great our God is. God told Abraham to count the stars "if he could" because God knew there were too many stars to count. We love you. The Quintanas

Luke, you are a true Warrior for Jesus. You recognize the power and strength there is in praying. God has heard you, Luke, and he has given you his Holy Spirit and his mighty angels to help you do battle. He has also given you hundreds and hundreds of prayer warriors who continually lift your name up before His mighty throne where healing power flows. Father God, I lift up little Luke to you asking in faith believing that you have heard my prayer and will perform a miracle in his body. Make him healthy and whole, Lord God. You be glorified, Father. All glory and honor and power is Yours.
Let your light shine, Lord God, thru Luke as he overcomes and conquers this enemy. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen

We are praying for you along with so, so many others. Isn't is fabulous that God is never ever too busy to listen and actually tells us to pray more. I love it! Here's a prayer for you found in the bible...

Lord, I cry unto thee:
make haste unto me;
give ear unto my voice,
when I cry unto thee.

Let my prayer be set forth
before thee as incense;
and the lifting up of my hands
as the evening sacrifice.

Luke,

God must have lead me to this particular blog to read about your prayer request. Although I have never met you, or probably never meet you, I am soooooo impressed by your one request. Most children your age would be asking for material "things." You think spiritually, which means that your parents have planted the seeds of faith in God from the time you were born. I have memorized a large amount of scripture over my 54 years, but the one verse that we can all hang on to is this: "I can do EVERYTHING through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13
You will continue to be in my prayers, I am asking God to show us a miraculous healing in your body. I KNOW He can do it, He is an AMAZING God!!
